Where Does My Help Come From?

I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip, he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you, the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm, he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalms 121:1-8
During the past few months, my dependency on the Lord grew. My dependency was not on my family and friends. Do not get me wrong; I am thankful for the many prayers and people who helped while Corbin was in the hospital, but my strength during the journey came from the Lord. Praise is the answer when you are walking in uncertainty, and nothing makes sense. After we received the phone call that a team of doctors was waiting for us in St. Louis, all I could do was pray and praise the Lord because everything else caused me to want to scream and cry. When we walked through the emotions of test results and answers, I could only praise the Lord. When we were walking through the hospital when Corbin was in surgery, all I could do was praise the Lord. Praise was my weapon against fear, and the Word was my encouragement. Psalms 121 is an encouraging reminder that our help comes from the Lord, not people. The Lord is our constant guard and protector. On our best days, He walks with us, and on our worst moments, He walks with us; The Lord is dependable.
