The Virgin Birth

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

Isaiah 7:14 NKJV

The Old Testament prophecy of the virgin birth gives fool proof, evidence of the virgin birth. It also provides evidence that Jesus is who he said he is, and that he did come to fulfill prophecy.

“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.”

Luke 1:31NKJV

To the world this looks absolutely unbelievable. How could it be? This is what the world says. To the believer this glorious truth, behind the sovereignty of God, makes it way possible for souls to be saved. The birth is essential to the gospel to deny the virgin birth is to deny the word of God, and to deny the gospel of Jesus Christ. So, as this time of year comes around, when we celebrate Christmas, let’s take time to study, and share with our families why we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Without the virgin birth, we do not have the gospel of Jesus Christ, nor do we have a holiday to celebrate.
