Thanksgiving

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1

Thanksgiving Day brings with it many traditions. Each family has their own traditions which may include, going home, spending time with family, searching our hearts for things we are thankful for, football, lots of food and for many, a day of rest.

It is only right to include the tradition of reflecting on our lives and giving thanks. It should be a time to stop and become aware of the things we have and fill our hearts with gratitude for our many blessings.

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. James 1:17

Today is a busy but typically a fun filled day. Don’t forget to stop and give thanks

Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28-29

Donald C. Stamps commentary in the Life in the Spirit Bible says this, God will one day put down the present world order and shake to pieces the whole material universe. The present form of the world is not eternal; it will be destroyed by fire and replaced by a new heaven and earth. The only thig that will survive in its present form will be the kingdom of God and those who belong to it.

We have many blessings to be thankful for and should make sure we have grateful hearts. However, the greatest blessing or gift of all is salvation. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
