Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes."
This verse has many thoughts that come to my mind. I am a very visual person and when I read something I try to get a picture in my mind. I think that Paul was also trying to help out the Ephesians with this mental image. A Roman soldier in those days was the fiercest of that time and I think Paul was trying to get that point across.
We are fierce warriors who are to "put on" the armor before entering battle. It is our choice and our effort that results in our preparedness. The belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with readiness, helmet of salvation, shield of faith, and the sword of the Spirit is to be put on. We are not to be sitting around lazily or waiting in worry, but we are to be in a position of readiness.
I picture us as warriors standing beside each other, listening to our Command's orders. Ready and willing, defending ourselves against the schemes of the enemy. Put on the armor and stand firm!
