Same Today as Yesterday

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.  Hebrews 13:8 (NASB)

Have you ever heard, “the only constant is change”?  Look around you.  Things change.  Seasons change, events in our lives change, our age changes, our feelings change and sometimes the world around us changes so much it seems life is spinning out of control.  We can count on change but we can also count on a God that is constant and unchanging.  When all you see around you is change, look up, God is still there.

God gave Moses commands for His people to follow.  In Deuteronomy 6 He tells them the most important commandment, Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might, (vs. 4 NASB).  In the New Testament, when Jesus was questioned by a teacher of the law and was asked to tell them the greatest commandment, it didn’t change.  And Jesus answered him, The first of all commandments is, Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord: and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength, Mark 12:29-30 (NASB).

The Bible tells us over and over again that God does not change. You can take that to the bank. You can count on God.  What He says He will do. He will do it again and again.  He was faithful to deliver Daniel, the Three Hebrew Children, Jonah and the disciples.  He will be faithful to you too.

For I, the Lord, do not change.  Malachi 3:6 (NASB)
