No Longer a Slave to Sin

John 8:34

I love the song that the choir sings, “I’m no longer a slave to sin, I am a child of God.” I can only imagine the joy that a slave would have felt if and when he received his freedom. To have been controlled all of your life, your every move and every thought controlled by a master.

The Bible says in Romans 6:20, “When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.” Free from what I call “right living”. When Satan is. Your master you are not in control. You are a slave! The Bible says in Romans 6:16, “Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the on you obey?” In John 8:34 Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” But here is the good part, romans 6:6, “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body rules by sin might be done away with. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.” A slave to “right living”. We have a new master. Jesus paid the price for our sins. We were purchased with his own blood. I don’t know about you but to me that a BIG DEAL!
