Jesus is a Miracle Worker

As Pastor Sam has led us into 2021 with two powerful words, Jesus Is… I want to examine one aspect of this. Jesus is the miracle worker. “Miracles” is a word that is becoming more and more common in vocabulary as people describe situations. But when we step back and we look at the definition of miracle by the world’s standards we find it is...a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency. Simply put, something the world can not explain how it happened.

Unfortunately, the world has lost sight as a whole on the power of miracles in building our faith as Christians. They want to write it off as a coincidence or luck for its timing and purpose. As Christians, we know better. We understand the perfect timing and will God has for our lives and how miracles can be used to grow and strengthen our faith as well as show favor to his children. I want to take this one step further. I want to examine John 14:12-14...

12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

That is a pretty powerful statement. We have the power and authority to call on the name of Jesus and miracles greater than what we read about in the bible will come to pass. What an encouragement we have been given. However, there is a catch to this, actually two. He states that whoever asks in his name and believes in him, then greater things will be done. A lot of times, we ask and hope, or we demand and expect, or even worse we ask and hope he will.

You see a lot of our miracles are waiting just behind an unraveled faith. Our human brains get in the way sometimes, and we begin to process the magnitude of what it would take for this miracle to happen, or how unlikely it would be to the worlds standards for it to happen. Our relationship with Christ Jesus has to be on a level where the doubt is gone and we whole heartedly believe that the miracle working power of Jesus still works today in the same ways he did in the stories in the Bible. He is just waiting to use us. Be encouraged by this that God trusts you enough to put that in your hands!

Grow your relationship with him and watch his miracle working power grow in your life.

Be Blessed,

Pastor Brandon
