The tub/shower combination in our Montana home was raised about four inches off the floor. When a person stepped out of the shower, they had to step up and over the tub, and then down the four inches to the floor. It was rather unnerving, if my foot slipped a little, I could visualize me landing sprawled out on the floor.
After my suggestion, Larry installed a shower bar to grab onto when stepping out of the tub. I could then step out with a feeling of security. This made bathing easier and safer for us and our over-night guests.
Life has many “unnerving” events. Divorce, death of a family member, health problems of a child, unemployment, and rejection by a friend are just a few of the things that can happen.
But God is even better than a security bar. He is right with us, ready to help when we have any situation that is fearful. I think of security, protection, comfort, His presence and guidance, when I remember that God is holding my hand.
“For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)
