God is Faithful

Joshua 22-24 is the farewell and last words of Joshua to Israel. Prior to this, Israel was fighting for possession of the promised Land. Joshua 21:43, 44 says, “So the Lord Israel all the land which he had sworn to give to their fathers, and they possessed it and lived in it.” Israel is now in a time of rest from war and able to enjoy the promise of God.

As I read Joshua 24:2-13, the Lord is speaking through Joshua and is reminding all of Israel that it was not what Israel had done, but it was God Almighty who caused them to win battles and possess the promise. It’s encouraging as a child of God to truly understand, when I am His child, I have nothing to fear. He will fight my battles, He will provide everything I need and when I serve Him, I am always victorious.

Throughout Joshua chapters 22-24, Joshua reminds and encourages Israel to choose to serve God and God alone. By doing this, yes, you will avoid His wrath, but also because look at what God will do in your life when you choose to serve Him! My family and I stand with Joshua today and proclaim, “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
