For God So Loved the World

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall no perish, but have eternal life.  John 3:16

John 3:16 is one of the most quoted verses in the Bible.  But do people really stop to think about what that really means, especially what it means to a father?  Every man wants a son.  I am sure God feels the same way about His son.  Matthew 3:17 says, And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, Whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

He was proud of Him.  Yet, he loved us so much that he was willing to give him as the great sacrifice so that we might be forgiven and live with him forever in Glory.  I am not sure I could have given my son for a people who fail so much.  John 15:13 says it all:  Greater love has no one that this, that one lay down his life for his friends.  He was willing.

This Christmas season when we think about Baby Jesus, let us remember that he was God’s Son, sent to be the Savior of the world.  His only son.  No greater love.

Oh how He loves you and me,

Oh how He loves you and me.

He gave His life, what more could He give.

Oh how He loves you, Oh how He loves me, Oh how He loves YOU and me.

For God so loved the world!
