Holy Ghost Part 1

How you can know “What God Has Prepared for You!”

The Apostle Paul had this to say to the Corinthian church:

Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him. But God hath revealed them to us by His Spirit: For the Spirit searcheth all things, Yea, the deep things of God

I COR 2:9-10

We were asked this month by Pastor Sam to write about the influence and impact of the Holy Ghost in our lives. As I was praying and meditating on what to say, this passage came to my mind. It sums it all up far better than I ever could. Without the Holy Ghost we can’t see God, hear God, or have God in our hearts. Nothing is more important than the work of the Holy Ghost.

Don’t get me wrong. I am a fanatic for Jesus. He was the one nailed to the cross in my place. He is my LORD. He is the image of the Father and in Him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead mightily. However, there is no competition or divisiveness within the Godhead and without the work of the Holy Ghost, I could never know Christ. He’s the one who brought me to Jesus. He’s the one who introduced us and invited me to love Him. More importantly, He’s the one who keeps bringing me back to Jesus and keeps urging me to love Him more.

A person can sit through countless messages on their own and gain nothing. It’s the Holy Ghost who enables us to hear from God through the words. It’s the Holy Ghost who enables us to see the hand of God as our life unfolds through His providence. It’s the precious Holy Ghost who moves into our hearts when we answer the knock of Jesus and open the door. Jesus promised in the Old Testament through the prophets Jeremiah and Ezekiel that He would remove our stony hearts and replace them with a heart of flesh (His heart!) and that He would place His Spirit within us so that we could love and serve Him through a covenant relationship written on our insides. Not through some code imposed from the outside.

None of this occurs without the Holy Ghost. Nothing. Jesus plainly stated that no man comes to the Father except through Him, then He went on to say that no one could come to Him except the Spirit of God draw him. The Trinity simply cannot be separated.

Embrace the presence of the Holy Ghost in your life each day. He’s God. He’s not a latecomer to the party. Be thankful and overwhelmed for His awesomeness and welcome His leading in your life.
