Don't Be Deceived
“Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.”
Romans 16:17-18 NASB
The greatest ploy of the enemy is deception. You see it as the first trick of the devil when he deceived Eve in the garden and one he uses all the time. The terrible thing about deception is that you do not know that you are being deceived. We have to be very mindful and always testing what we hear first to the Word of God. Growing up in Church I have been able to see this first hand and the destructive power that it has in the believer. I want to tell you be very careful about people who come to you claiming to have a word from the Lord. The enemy is very good at twisting the truth based upon what he sees you currently dealing with and gives you a form of godliness but it is not.
The Bible gives us clear instruction to test the word that we have been given. God will always back up a word to you with the truth of the gospel 100 percent of the time. I will always test the word. God always backs it up. I am fortunate to have a beautiful wife who God has blessed with the gift of prophecy and when I am given a word I bring it to her and God confirms it or it is tossed out. The church must be on Guard being mindful of the tricks and schemes of the devil. Don’t take my word for it go to the Holy Scriptures. Paul had to fight this in the church of Corinth, and we must always guard our church as well.
