Recently, our family went on a cruise to the Bahamas, and we spent a few nights on the open sea. One night we sat on our balcony and just looked at the vastness of the water that seemed never to end. I was reminded of Ephesians 3:14-19, the verses discuss God’s love and how we as believers may have power to grasp how wide and long and high and the depth of His love.
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom very family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3:14-19, NASB
Looking out and seeing the ocean reminded me of the unconditional love Christ has for us. We have a difficult time understanding and wrapping our minds around His love. As believers, we think about conditional love instead of unconditional love. We get stuck on our past and ponder well the love God has for others is not for me because I have an unforgivable history. The scripture above challenges us to be rooted in faith and grounded in love. I encourage you to dig into the Word and find the different ways scripture reminds us of God’s love. Walk-in His love today and share it with others around you!
