Sign of New Life

“I saw a robin today,” I told my husband. “Great, spring is coming. I’m tired of winter,” he replied.

It is a joyous occasion to see a robin in late winter. People enjoy being the first to see the red-breasted bird, so they can announce, “Spring is almost here.” Sighting a robin gives hope of new life for the earth and the end of winter.

Jesus told His people to watch for signs that foretell His return. The news media reports more earthquakes than we’ve had in the past and increasing wars with threats of terrorism. Even though the signs and events are scary, they do bring hope to Christians. We know Jesus will not be long in coming back. The winter of this human life will soon be over.

At his glorious appearance, every believer, either alive or dead, will then start a new life with Him. Just as the sighting of a robin signifies the arrival of spring, when the current events are discouraging, we can announce, “Jesus is coming soon.” I’m thankful for the hope of eternal life with Jesus.

"

There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” (Luke 21:25, 27 NIV)
