What Do You Say?

We spend a great deal of our day answering questions. If you work in customer service, I am sure you feel like questions are never ending. In any job, the boss always needs to know something. If you are a leader, those who work for you will need assistance and help understanding certain situations. If you are a parent of small children, the day is filled with, “Why?”, “How?”, “When?” and on and on. The majority of our daily questions are soon forgotten. Immediately after being answered they fall to the bottom of the priority list.

However, there have been a few questions we have had to answer that have the potential to be life changing.

“Will you marry me?” “Would you like a job transfer?” “Would you like a promotion?” “Have you met all the requirements for graduation?” “What would you say if I told you I was pregnant?”

These are some very important questions. They require prayer and God’s guidance in answering them. When we are faced with these life changing questions, we want to be sure we are in God’s Will. Even though these questions are important and should not be taken lightly, they fail in comparison to the

question Jesus asked His disciples in Mark Chapter 8, Who do you say that I am?

This is a personal question. A question that no one can answer for you. Jesus doesn’t ask what our parents say or what your friends think. He doesn’t even ask what we think about what He has done. Each person has to search their own heart and give an answer. Peter gave his answer.

And He continued by questioning them, “But who do you say that I am?”. Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.” Mark 8:29

He is asking you too. What do you say?
